Come play in a musical happy place!

February 8, 2011

I’m doing some shameless promotion for my friend Em! She’s a very talented singer/songwriter who’ll be performing at the Alma Cafe in Rosebank, Cape Town tomorrow evening.

If you’re wondering what kind of music to expect, well, she plays accoustic guitar and I think she’s a lyrical genius. It’s pretty easy listening, but I don’t think she’s ever really defined a genre for herself… [If you have Em, please post it in a comment!!!]

Emma du Preez - musical genius

This pic was taken at a previous gig she did at the Alma – figured you can see her AND the venue in one go!

I was first exposed to her talents in the dingy rooms of our varsity residence during our first year, but I reckon you guys will probably like the Alma more! It’s a very cute, intimate old-school corner cafe that’s family run as a corner shop/restaurant. They have live music on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, the food is very reasonably price and there are fairy lights! It’s got a very unique vibe – great venue to listen to some chilled tunes and hang out with friends.

You can also follow her on Twitter – @emmadupreez.

Hope to see some of you there!

PS. Also found a review of live music at the Alma.
